author: Stephan Schelle The Luck of Eden Hall - When The Clock Starts To Wake Up We Go To Sleep Myopic Records (2009) (13 pieces, 45:10 minutes) Since fluttered me a few days ago a CD from Chicago-born band, The Luck Of Eden Hall on the table. The CD carries the unusual title of "When The Clock Starts To Wake Up We Go To Sleep." Pillars of this band are guitarist Greg Curvey and Mark Lofgren bassist. Unfortunately, I can present to me from the documentation does not identify who the other musicians are. The band project is already the middle of the 90'er was years ago, but took a longer time out and then between the last album "Subterrene" from 2002 and the current publication several years have gone into the country. Since the new album for me, the first musical contact with the cosmos sound of The Luck of Eden Hall is, I can to previous publications no statements. In the short press release about the CD is, however, that the music to psychedelic rock, and some critics the band with artists like Jane's Addiction, Porcupine Tree, Screaming Trees, Pink Floyd, Hendrix Experience compare. That made me curious times. "All Else Shall Be Added Unto You" is the first song of the album title and the class is already happening. A guitar and a wall psychedelic drums welcome the listeners of the album. When the singing starts, then not only psychedelic feelings, but I also evokes associations with the guitar-oriented bands like U 2nd But the use of land does not affect the synth Psychedelic but then again emerge from the background. This entry was already a really good time. With Mary Ann's Dressed In Peace "I have the feeling that in a time machine back to the late 60's or early 70's catapulted them. That sounds wonderfully retro, but with the technology of the new millennium recorded. With "Daisy Bus Stop" The Americans give us a very nice acoustic guitar number, towards the end by playing backwards guitars is still quite psychedelic. And also the other songs of the album keep the psychedelic style in a high quality is maintained, in the beautiful melodies with psychedelic sounds and extended solos connected. At one or another body to me even if I had desired, the pieces would be a bit longer. And with "Beautiful Girl On The Radio" is a real hammer song on the album, the radio would have good chances. The Luck of Eden Hall is with her new work is a really good psychedelic rock disc managed to just fun. What stylistic borrowings are also increasingly discovering believes, lies entirely in the contemplation of the listener. In my view, a very successful disc, which I recommend.
